Bosnia striker Edin Dzeko admitted he was disappointed after missing a chance to equalise and then being denied two late goals by the Netherlands.
Bosnia lost 2-5 to the Netherlands in the Nations League A3 on Saturday night, resulting in the first defeat for the country.
Veteran Edin Dzeko pulled one back 17 minutes from fulltime to offer Bosnia hope of getting something out of the game but Dutch pinch hitter Wout Weghorst and Xavi Simons scored in the closing stages to wrap up the victory.
It was the first game for the Dutch since reaching the semifinals of the European Championship in Germany in July and coach Ronald Koeman refreshed his side with an eye on the 2026 World Cup.
“5-2 is a difficult result to accept because we gave everything, but two or three goals conceded were mistakes when we lost the ball. These things can’t happen and we have to learn from this game,” said the 38-year-old striker.
“We knew it was going to be a tough game. They like to keep the ball, move around a lot, so it’s not easy, not just for us, but for other teams as well.
“When we were 1-1 up, we tried to defend well and then the goal came from an unexpected place in the last minute of the first half, which took a little bit of confidence away from us.
“Just give me the ball into the box and I’ll try my best UFABET. I got a great ball from (Esmir Bayraktarevic) on the right and we started to believe more, so it’s a shame to concede those two goals.” Dzeko said.
