Netherlands striker Joshua Zirkzee said he was very happy to start for his country and score in the last match.
The Orange Knights beat Bosnia 5-2 at home in the Nations League A3 on Saturday night, giving the Flying Dutchmen a much-needed three points in their opening game.
After the game, the Manchester United forward spoke about his experience playing as a regular player and his recent goal.
“It was a very proud moment. My family were here too. My grandparents (my father’s or mother’s side is not specified, so I will use grandparents instead) came to watch me on the pitch after a long time, so it was a great day for us.
“Bosnia defended in their own half and it was up to us to find ways to coordinate, to find each other. Even though we could have been more decisive, I think we did a great job.” Zirkzee said.
For the next game, the Netherlands will still have the Promotion Ufabet opportunity to play at home as usual, but this time they will face a tough task against Germany, who just crushed Hungary 5-0. They will play on the field on Tuesday, September 10.
The Netherlands are back in action on Tuesday at home to rivals Germany. After that, Zirkzee will return to United to prepare for their Premier League trip to Southampton on Saturday.
